Pre-Watford Press Conference

For anyone around a computer, I imagine we're about to get some answers to our questions.

Neil Adams about to do a press conference and you can follow along on the link above. Then use this thread to discuss.

Few things of interest I want to see covered:

1) What is happening with Pilkington?

2) Are we close to brining anyone in?

3) Will Leroy Fer play this weekend?

Journalists are too PC and rarely ask the questions that you want them too.

I would love to be asking the questions, don't think I'd get asked back.

Either they are late starting......or the press conference is that boring, nothing has warranted an update yet.

Followed it via Twitter. NA admitted interest in Pilkington from Cardiff and are in advanced talks, have had bids for both Redmond and Fer but none match their valuation, looking to get 1 or 2 signings next week

I asked Paddy about Fer and he tweeted me back confirming he had asked the question about Fer playing this weekend and NA said that he was still playing catch-up, implying that Fer won't be part of the squad to face Watford.

That's my guess unfortunately.

Although Michael Bailey said that Neil expanded and said if Fer could prove his fitness ahead of the game, he would be in NA's plans.

Not comfortable with Adams comments that bids for Redmond and Fer have been received but "don't meet out valuation", why are we publicly courting offers for our best players when we've already lost Snodgrass, RVW and Pilkington and have just 2 weeks of the summer window left and don't appear to be close to landing any quality to replace?

Was McNasty being a little liberal with the truth when he said we didn't need to sell?

I think fan morale must be very low after the news about Pilks. Have to hope for a good result against Watford or it will sink even lower. Feeling very low myself.

Think I'd interpret it more that every player has their price. Bids have come in for Fer and Redmond. They weren't high enough. Simple.

What don't know is what the club's threshold, for accepting a bid is Mr B. That would be an interesting conversation with McNasty!

I think I would feel the same as you YF but the fact that I haven't seen a match for 3 months means that nothing can dampen my excitement for Saturday, in fact I have cut short the annual family holiday to the north of Scotland by a day to make sure that I can cover the drive tomorrow to make sure I am there.

For reasons of public decency I shall refrain from posting the views of my good lady as to this scheduling!

Fer off, was expecting that, 100%.

Redmond however, was expecting him to stay, but clear we're open to offers with Adams comment. Not for sale at any price would be the standard reply for a club that doesn't need to sell. More lies now being unwrapped to us as each week passes.

Fact we tried redder up front also supports that he's on his way too when I think about it.

We have a striker shortage, Grabban now makes sense to be his replacement in place (goal scoring wide player),formation v wolves was all about making a step forwards without a reliance on him out wide.

We need more than 1 or 2 players when they both go!! (Plus pilks of course) so hoping that's a cover too, have much faith in our youth available but we need more cover.

I think city's season could well depend on the Murphys and Loza making the step up to the first team. A big gamble IMO.

Sorry, but how have you taken from that, that Redmond and Fer are definitely off? Every single player at every club on the planet is available for the right price. There is literally nobody that won't be sold if the club gets enough. If ours isn't met, they're going nowhere.

Have to agree with this. I think we all know that the right price for any of our players will trigger us to sell, and it's exactly the same for every single Championship club. All we know is Redmond and Fer were both in training yesterday (saw the video) and both have a price that's higher than teams are currently willing to offer. If teams don't meet our evaluations, they will stay.

But our valuations may shift depending on the player's behaviour. If Leroy says he's happy to stay here, you'd need a huge bid to bring us to the table. If Leroy tells the manager he wants to leave and his agent is drumming up interest, that figure will likely fall as we realise we're fighting a losing battle. If we get lucky we might take advantage of a bidding war to lift the fee up, but NA has already made it clear he doesn't want demotivated want-aways clogging up his squad.
