Persistent standing email

I agree and I'd like to see safe standing come in, but until then, people are paying for a seat and should be allowed to use it and still see the game.

Just remembered the thread.

Was there any noticeable difference to stewarding at the Watford game? Or was it just the club covering their H&S arse?

Not really any different to be honest.

It 100% has an impact on atmosphere though, that is totally undeniable to anyone who sits/stands in the Barclay. It's noticeable that request to sit are far less frequent in more important games.

Lower Barclay block D, the first time I was asked to sit was the 86th minute, and the stewards actually said "Come on lads, just for the last five".

I don't like sitting but if I had to I would, but nobody in the section was sitting.

The law is the law on this and with the current seating arrangements, standing can be unsafe. Do I think we should offer safe standing? Yes. The model used in Germany would be perfect. However, that's not what we have. We have laws that were put in place for safety reasons following a series of incidents and injuries / deaths. Until the law is changed, persistent standing actually puts the club's safety certificate at risk and those who break this law do so in the full and frank knowledge that they are doing so, thereby potentially risking revenue and access to the game for the 20,000 or so people who do follow the law. It's not big and it's not clever. The stewards are only doing their jobs.

Why not start or join a campaign to have safe standing introduced rather than sing songs at home games such as "We'll stand if we want"? It would be more productive.
