Hmm...Have we got him?

He could play as a central defender and still score more than Ricky.

Also Zero supply? I seem to recall ricky stuffing a lot of shots wide, over or into the ground. For a brilliant finisher he wasn't that much of a brilliant finisher.  Suppose those chances did come with defenders withing 6 feet of him, most of his goals in pt didn't have that. Ricky needs to be forcing a move somewhere, but he'll probably be happy to stick around and warm the bench considering he's only going to get one more season of ridiculous wages.

Sad thing is I don't think Indy is on the windup. Unlike Wiz he could actually be mental. Is that what years of watching City does to people?

No Keiran, what's sad is that you seemingly have to fall back on personal insults against me because you can't actually provide a coherent argument to oppose my own views on players.

What's more, it would appear that your memory is failing you badly, as I certainly don't recall RvW doing that, and after checking the stats, and seeing as how we only managed to give him enough supply to manage a mere 1.3 shots per game and he only missed 0.4 of those shots (thus nearly 70% of shots were on target or blocked), then I think it's fairly certain that yet again the facts disprove the opinion.

At worst RvW was averaging a missed shot every 3 games, which is absolutely not "Stuffing a lot of shots wide, over or into the ground"...

Anything else you want me to shoot down whilst I'm at it?

The news that Klose is giving us at least next season surely frees up money for the extra striker the majority of us believe we need. Whether it is McCormack or just a back up to challenge the others is further speculation.

My memory of Ricky is that he was making 'the right' runs without really looking like scoring up until his injury and then the runs stopped afterwards. Confidence obviously left him early during that season and it hasn't recovered. He had good chances to score but didn't, much like Jerome last season. Although unlike Jerome he offers a lot more even whilst not scoring goals. And the killer was that Hooper, despite being a similar type of forward, got 5 or 6 more than him that season.

The only way Ricky is outscoring McCormack in any system would be for him to get 2 pens a game. Actually, in regards to system, Fulham and Leeds' systems weren't entirely based around getting Ross McCormack to score goals, he's scored goals because he's a good forward. I wonder how many goals he'd get if all he had to do was goalhang and put it in the net. I doubt McCormack's footballing intelligence is less than RVW's.

We've been trying to shift Ricky and failing (still been paying a decent chunk of wages I would assume) for years and he'll probably go down as a waste of a squad space this year. Your fantasies about a system which suits him in the championship are delusional. I personally don't believe any system would get him scoring in Professional English league.

Van Wolfswinkel was actually pretty good before his injury. I remember in the game he got injured, against Stoke his hold-up play was superb, and against Hull a couple of games before he had a header brilliantly saved, that 9 times out of 10 would've gone in. After his injury he was genuinely useless. Yes our dire style didn't help, but even when he did get chances he didn't look like taking them, and his general play was very poor.

I will be gutted if we miss out on McCormack and he ends up at Villa or somewhere else. Imagine Naismith feeding McCormack at this level, I'm drooling at the prospect.

A lot depends on the club and its supporters. I am sure the two clubs you rival will point to former "greatness" and many of their supporters will feel they should be eating at the captain's table. And many would take the risk of foreign ownership just in the hope of investment in playing staff. And as you point out, this inflates the unworthy as well as the worthy.

I was interested in Reading who had Madjeski, then a Russian and now Thai's. I got the impression the lady owner was more interested in developing the area around the ground than anything to do with football.

I am not sure NCFC is at that point (yet). I think there is enough support for the club taking its chances without selling its soul to the Far East. Of course there are many who would risk it all on trying to equal those who have probably only temporary stability and success.
Thing is we're both teams That yo-yoed to the prem no shame there.  The qustion I'd ask If WBA were in your place is could we do it again The answer is probably not. Yes, I am hoping the Moxey rumour is just that. But isn't football like that. Club after club takes on a manager or back room staff that were failures elsewhere. Moyes recently has had two failures but gets a Prem job. Why didn't Sunderland come after our manager. He has had recent success.

It would be preferable but not necessary that our next CEO should have some football knowledge/background. Let;s face it, there can;t be that many around. And I certainly don't want a CEO who is maybe looking to bring in foreign investment. I speak for myself there obviously.

I think that with our well meaning but naive owners we will always mess up more than succeed. Several clubs breathed easy last year that two potentially big clubs messed up and went down. We were a potential favourite for the drop from the start and events justified that. But the three promoted have all been recent Prem clubs and they along with yourselves and at least 8 other clubs know they could just as easy fall from grace. And then knowing that just as easy, they could bounce back. A pattern has emerged.

I don't think Moxey would be a complete disaster, I don't like the way he agreed for Wolves to be sponsored by a legalised loan shark, but Wolves have been well managed financially and have managed to expand their stadium under his tenure. They've been a bit up and down but always seem to manage to find some super talented players from somewhere (Afobe, Soko, etc), plus they retain a core of British and Irish players like we always have (apart from the disasters of the Rioch and Hamilton tenures).

I googled about the rebate, a bit bad, but our club effectively guilt tripped people into giving up a rebate when we were relegated to League One too. That money pretty much purchased Grant Holt though, so thank goodness they did.

At least he is an actual football man who has spent his entire career in sport, most of that in football. He has about 25 years of experience in football, something fans say that our board lacks, and presumably Delia and Ed Balls would veto stuff like loan shark sponsorship considering they've both nailed their colours to the mast when it comes to politics.

I want whoever it is who gets this job to have a long history in the sport and that must make the field pretty small. There are also worse people we could have appointed from that field, e.g. Margaret Byrne the Sunderland Chief Executive who knew that Adam Johnson had had a bit of a fiddle with a minor but didn't act upon it.

So is this guy supposedly going to be McNally's replacement? Have to admit I don't know anything about this, or him.

Also, Sky Sports reporting we've put in a £10m bid for McCormack.

I have spoken to two Wolves fans today and both said that he has no ambition and all he wants to do is balance the books.  And he will sell the best players to achieve that aim. Where have we heard that before. Seems the kind of chap our board would probably look for. Nothing wrong in trying to balance the books but not at any cost. It is football not slicked back hair and nice suits.

Think we've been odds on since Villa's chairman had his meltdown on twatter.

Perhaps the Scots and Howson have helped us out here.
