When was your first City game?

I came to the party relatively late (I moved to the area in the early 90's when I was posted to RAF Coltishall)

Don't laugh, but my first and only game in person was Norwich City v Manchester City at Carrow Road, which funnily enough was the same game that Delia made a rousing speech at half time that is part of now part of folklore. I went along with a chap I worked with at Aviva Life at the time in data warehousing, Paul O'Rourke.

It's my New Year's Resolution to cross the puddle and take in a game this year!

As I was still a Watford season ticket holder at the time, my first Norwich game would have been away at Watford, 24 October 1981. 3-0 to Watford, which I would probably have celebrated but also been disappointed about, as I had decided back in the mid 70s that I supported Norwich.

I was there too! It was my last game before going away to the middle east for 4 months, and every single person I met thought it hilarious to "Lets be 'avin you" me.

How I laughed.

Mine was, I believe, Oldham at home in August 1995 when I was a young child.

As for that infamous Man City game, I was there too but had no idea it happened until I got home. It was a cold night so me and my dad went into the concourse at half time and we only saw it on the screens with the sound off.

Unsurprisingly, it was the League Cup game against Charlton, where I persuaded the family to come along for the evening.

A good start by Charlton 0-1, so quite happy even though I could hardly celebrate in the River End.
Convincing win for Norwich in the end, with most of the goals being scored in front of us.
As a supporter of the Canaries too since moving to Norfolk in 1985, I couldn't lose personally.

I have managed to enjoy a growing number of games since and have introduced one grandson and one granddaughter too.

I must have been around 8 or 9, my grandad took me to a game although given this was decades ago the team we played has been long lost to memory. I think it was a friendly?

Ah...one of my few regrets in life, not knowing who we played. But my father told me before the match that he wondered whether we would see John Manning but in the event he had been transferred - so it must have been 1969. Pre internet days and I'm unsure even if my dad would have known he had left. We lived then in Lynn. It may equally have been 1970 and the first week of the season. Clive Payne was right back and Dave Stringer and Hugh Curran were playing. I think we won (!) but cannot remember.
The first time I do remember properly, when I was a regular, was in our promotion to the First Division season. I especially remember the home match in April 1972 when we beat Swindon 1-0 to be in the verge of going up. The way the crowd sang On the Ball City made the hairs on the back of neck stand up. The rafters of the main stand just reverberated. We were stood in the River End. I recall the excitement of Jimmy Bone signing ...He seemed to galvanise the crowd even though in some ways he was limited he had some never given up spirit. Norfolk crowds always love a trier.

I've been lucky in that whenever I've given myself to actively watching us we've been successful. I had a while away in the 90's (work, wife, children etc) and our fortunes dropped!

Going back a few hundred years to the severe winter early 60's. Docked in Plymouth, coming back from Singapore. Took over 2 days for me to get to Kings Lynn, it was a wonder the trains got through. Took a mate back to stay at ours, he had no chance of getting up to Aberdeen. We both went to see the Canaries, sorry I can't remember the game, my mate was impressed, as was I, an avid Wolves supporter. From that day, I have been a Norwich City man, wherever I have been in the world, highs and lows. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I do remember how cold it was

Sheffield Wednesday in either 91 or 92. I remember winning 1-0 but both seasons apparently had the same result so I’ve no idea which one I was at

Feb 7 1976 NCFC 3 Arsenal 1 was my first ever game, went with my grandfather and father , got in for free under the turnstiles in the old main stand and squeezed in between them on the wood bench seats of that time - as a 6 year old it was my first experience of swearing as the bloke behind me kept shouting “wipe the sh#t out of your eyes referee” not much changes - atleast with a nice home win against a big London club the cushions didn’t get lobbed on the pitch at the end

Pretty dark this time of year, I just landed back on the iceberg after the warmer climes of North Norfolk,
