*NO SPOILERS*

There's a topic in the link below on how to create a spoiler by Admin. For if you're desperate to share the ending with us.

Anyway:

Harry Brown - 8/10. Superb film. Very simple plot and very easy to follow but still well done. Michael Caine is superb as always.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - 7/10. Thought it was good. Had high expectations of it and I'm not sure if it completely lived up to them. Still enjoyed it though. Started slowly but gradually got better however it was quite hard to follow in places, and even though I understand the main story, I didn't fully understand certain parts and actually read through the plot online just to completely get it. Certainly a very good watch though.

Skyfall - 8.5/10. Only really got into the new James Bond's recently, and this for me is easily the best out of the 3 Daniel Craig films. Fantastic film and you don't need to have seen previous films to understand it.

Zombieland - 7/10 - Was quite good fun, if you like that sort of thing. Gets an extra point just for Bill Murray's cameo.

V for Vendetta - 9/10   Seen it before actually, just watched it again. Recommend if anybody hasn't seen it, it is the film which inspired the Anonymous / Occupy movement (in case you never knew what those masks represented, this explains it).

The Grand Hotel Budapest - 8/10   Seen this before too. Great film.

The Great Gatsby - 4/10   Sh*t.

As part of a 5 blurays for 30 quid deal :-

Close encounters of the third kind - 6/10 Watched this out of nostalgia, as it was a bit of a groundbreaking epic in its day. Hasn't stood the test of time unfortunately.

In Fear - 6/10. Quite a strange film really. A little boring in parts and there were quite a lot of unanswered questions at the end. Decent watch though.

A Lonely Place to Die - 8/10. Really enjoyed it. Really quite entertaining and I was gripped all the way through. It's basically about a group of hikers who find a little girl buried alive in a mountain and have to try and get her to safety without her kidnappers getting her back. Does end on a bit of an odd note though.

Dawn of the planet of the apes - 7.5/10 Actually a lot better than I expected it to be, not watched a film like this since the old ones with Charlton Heston in!

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation - Heir to the Stars

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation II - Lovers

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation III - Love Is the Pulse of the Stars

Preferred the series but at least they looked and sounded great. 7/10

Hercules - 7.5/10. Quite surprised at this, after a run of historical turkeys such as Pompeii I didn't expect much, but it was actually very good.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - 8/10. A lot of people I knew who have watched it have said they thought it was really complicated, and although it was a little bit, I understood it all and I thought it was very good. It is a little bit of a drag after 2 and a half hours though, but I did enjoy it overall. It's basically about a journalist (Daniel Craig),who investigates the murder of this man's niece, even though it happened 40 years ago. I thought it was very good though.

Now You See Me - 6.5/10. It's a decent watch. But for me the ending is really poor, which actually spoilt it a bit for me. It's about 4 magicians that are on the run after using 'magic' to steal millions of pounds. As I said, good watch but the ending did ruin it a little bit for me.

The Number 23 - 6.5/10. Basically it's about this guy who starts to see the number 23 in everything he does. Every time he looks at the clock it adds up to 23, his birthday adds up to 23 etc you get the idea. It starts becoming an obsession for him and drives him insane. A decent enough watch, and Jim Carrey is great even though it's a horror film. It is however a bit boring in places and it is quite obvious what is going to happen, as I said though, it's decent.

The Sweeney - 6/10. The plot is that Ray Winstone's character Jack Regan is leader of a department of the police called 'the Sweeney', and they basically use a lot of hostility in order to catch criminals. There's then a robbery at a Jewellery shop, and one guy kills an innocent woman for no real reason, and they have to try and work out who it is. It's a strange film really, mainly just full of car chases, and all the way through the film it didn't really feel like it had properly started yet. The ending also leaves unanswered questions. Quite entertaining though.

Guardians of the Galaxy - 7/10 Probably my least favourite Marvel film for a while, had its moments, but seemed like one of those transitional films in a series, setting stuff up for sequels. The green girl was pleasing on the eye though lol.

The Taking of Pelham 123 - 7.5/10. Really good film. If you want something that makes you think then it's not that, but it's very simple and really enjoyable. It's basically about a group of terrorists who hijack a train and demand £10 million or they'll kill all the hostages, and it's Denzel Washington's character's job to negotiate with them. Really liked it and as I said very easy to follow.

Unknown - 9/10. Fantastic. Absolutely loved it. Basically Liam Neeson's character Dr. Martin Harris has a car accident, and goes into a coma, and when he wakes up his wife doesn't recognise him, another man is using his identity, and some mysterious assassins are hunting him. Superb film and the ending is brilliant. Would highly recommend it.

Pulp Fiction - 7/10. Really good film. Obviously it's structure is very strange, but I do like that about it. The ending is also a little odd, and tbh I don't really see why it's regarded as a 'classic'. But as I said it is a great watch.

Dumber and Dumber To - 7.5/10

Obviously as a sequel it was never going to be as good as the first one. That said though it was very funny, and there were a few genuine laugh out loud moments. There is massive intertextuality with the first film, and pretty much all the phrases and things that they do in the first film are repeated in this. The plot as well is incredibly similar, and there are a lot of scenes that are pretty the same as they are in the first film, with a very slight change, and during the credits they compare the 2 very similar scenes from each film which is quite interesting. It is also completely deictic, in the sense that if you haven't seen the first film you have no chance of understanding this one. Carrey and Daniels are brilliant once again, however some of the acting from certain other characters is appalling.

Overall though it was great. As I said, nothing like as good as the first one, and to be honest I was slightly disappointed because the original is one of my favourite ever films, and I thought there would be more hilarious moments than there were, but all in all it was very funny. I was amazed though at how empty the cinema was though. It was the first day it had been released, half past 8, on a Friday night, at the start of the Christmas holidays, but there was barely anyone in there.

Just seen the Hobbit battle of the 5 armies.     Think it will be best seen on the big screen - best of the trilogy of hobbit films and starting to get to the LOTR standard.  6/10 for me;
