Or what would you change about NorwichTalk.com?

In truth I'm well and truly burnt out with developing the site for the time being, done a lot in a short space of time and I'm going to focus my energy on SEO and attracting new users. So this is how the site will stay for some time now.

I'll probably refrain from building out the site until I see what the Pink'un has to offer, or may even wait for Invision to release 4.0. After disclosing on here that I would be introducing a software based prediction league, they introduced a software based prediction league, and then copied the chat function.

So in terms of what applications I have in store for the future, I've got a couple of great things forthcoming probably later in the year but I'll keep those cards close to my chest.

But time for a critique, what do you like about the site, what do you not like about the site?

Are there any features or functions that you would like to see, or information pages / content? Seen anything in other online communities that you'd like to see here? Doesn't matter how outside of the box or outlandish they are, doesn't matter whether I consider them feasible or not (that's for me to work out).

One thing that I can introduce is a software based head to head prediction game (not a prediction league, users face up against each other and end up with a record like a boxer, e.g. 13-2-11, which can be shown on the profile pages).

I could even introduce a full blown games arcade if people thought they'd used it.

All suggestions welcome, license to moan if you wish!

Well I'll start off by saying that there is nothing I don't like about this site and that it is easily the best City messageboard around. I still use Not606 and the Pink'un occasionally, but this is now my main board. The lay out is excellent and keeps getting better. The photo title dashboard list is an excellent addition and adds visual interest. It also has the best moderation and 'civilized discussions' without all the mud-slinging. Excellent!

Firstly, well done! Thanks for setting up a forum that runs on up to date software. It works pretty nicely on mobile.

I like that I can up-vote for good posts, but can you please enable down-voting too? Occasionally I'd see comments on the other board that warranted it. Disemvowelling for posts that get a lot of downvotes too. I think it's a good way of ensuring things don't get too "Barry".

Maybe enable the reputation badges too so people are recognised for making good contributions to discussion?

How about some way to record if people are correct with their transfer rumours?

Thanks!

Apart from making this site fully compatible with IE11 I'm well pleased with things as they are .

Do people still use IE?
At lot of businesses still do unfortunately, so some people are stuck browsing on it at work.

I can fix the quoting issue, that's on the list. I don't know what other issues you have with IE11, I'll have to install the browser and see for myself I think.

LDC:

My preferred choice is IE, but I can switch to Firefox when I need to.

Its quotes and cut and paste where my problems arise. I can't seem to do that with IE11

I'd like to see a predictive forecast for "Where would Alex Tettey's shot have ended up if it wasn't for the Barclay End/River End roof?", which could be a bit like your member map only bigger.

But seriously, great job and great site. Thank you.

I should imagine the problem is that version 3.4.6 was released prior to IE11, but I'm pretty certain I can fix it so is on the list....

Disemvowelling of posts? Not sure I even know what that means, sounds like the vowels are removed out of the words?

You are right that 'reputation' points shown on profiles are meaningless unless people can take them away, so I'll certainly consider having a 'like' and 'dislike' system, or a 'up' or 'down' system, with people progressing through groups of some sort, with reputation points shown beneath the avatar on posts.

But I won't turn this into one of those forums which gives out silly awards and trophies, that really grates and would be a sure fire way of having people start accusing of favoritism and adds clutter.

I guess my concern with a 'dislike' or 'down' button is that people would abuse it by constantly downvoting people they dislike, so I'd need what controls I could incorporate and/or if it could work alongside the ignore list.

To be honest, it is great as it is.

I'm not keen on the dislike function as it could easily be used and it's the sort of thing that would fuel character assassinations and a form of online bullying on another board. We definitely would end up with an insular group, and the real danger is it's not a group that is beneficial to the discussion. Let's say our neighbours decide to invade the board and disrupt a fabulous community, while you could rectify it, the damage to the reputation could be severe.

Keeping it positive is the way to go for me. Good moderation and warnings for poor conduct basically covers it. Numbers of likes for posts can enhance reputation and maybe we can award extra reputation points for particularly good posts but I'd steer clear of anything negative as it's much easier to abuse and breed resentments with that system.

Great job to get where we are though. Thanks for doing this.

Can I just clarify that it should read "... could easily be used negatively..."

Can't access the edit on the mobile site right now for this post but no big deal.

I enjoy things here. Good discussion and a range of features. I will still post on both here and not 606.

Who would want to see a link submission page like this? http://www.marchertech.com/board/links/

(I'd make it sexier).

Could link from one place to all Norwich related news sites, official site, twitter accounts of players and staff, facebook pages, supporters groups etc? Could have a news category, for people to submit news links (a bit like they would on reddit).

Is it possible to have an index to all the threads you've previously posted on? This is useful to catch up on your previous posts to see if you've since had any replies or follow ups from other posters

You can already do that by clicking 'View new content' underneath the search bar and at the bottom there are links for 'items I participated in', and 'items I started'.

There is also a link for 'items I follow', which covers threads that you want to keep an eye on but haven't participated in, to track a thread just click 'follow this topic' at the top of any thread.

(Only people who are logged in will see those links).
