I think Michael Bailey suggested that the issue was wages, the senior players on that list needed either a pay cut or to leave to lower the wage bill.

There are two obvious scenarios here, specifically with the loan players, who will be gone if we're not promoted.

But looking at the regular players :-

Todd - new contract.
Pukki - 2 year contract max if he accepts paycut, but I still wonder if he'll leave in January.
Dowell - 3 year contract
Kenny "water carrier" Mclean - 2 year contract
Sam Byram - get rid
Danel Sinani - get rid
Onel Hernandez - 2 year contract if we're not promoted, if we are, not sure
Jordan Hugill - get rid
Michael McGovern - Time to go

I would assume Tzolis would be interested in returning if we get promoted.

Here's my two pence (inc loans) ...

Todd Cantwell - keep
Teemu Pukki - keep
Keiron Dowell - keep
Kenny "water carrier" Mclean - keep
Sam Byram - keep
Danel Sinani - get rid
Onel Hernandez - keep
Jordan Hugill - get rid
Michael McGovern - get rid

Hayden - keep (if he remains injury free)
Ramsey - keep (if possible)

Rashica - get rid
Tszolis - keep
Mumba - keep

The club ain't looking at it like that,

Plan B - Preparation for Championship

And some players will be suited to the league above, and some won't. Onel being on loan last season being a prime example.

Slightly different in that these are out of contract and the reason they've not been renewed is wages.
IF the club wants to keep any of them and they don't get a better offer elsewhere, they'll have to drop to lower wages.

In the Championship I'd keep Todd, Sam, Hayden and Mumba

It's now being said that Webber will be speaking to the players on diminishing contracts next week or two and decisions will be made by the end of the year.
I find this quite worrying, let's face it apart from Todd, who you'd expect to leave anyway, the rest of them haven't proved themselves up to it in the Premier League.
Why would you want to extend their contracts, Teemu will be past it, Byram can't walk past the physio without buying a season ticket and the likes of McLean, Dowell, Onel, Sinani etc just aren't good enough for where the club has said it wants to be.

This was written by Bailey in the article concerning Tampa Bay training camp

Friday saw confirmation of Kenny McLean’s new contract. The deal potentially ties the 30-year-old midfielder to Norwich until 2025. The decision was led by Smith, with little apparent movement in the situations of the remaining eight senior players out of contract in seven months’ time.

Interesting that Smith doesn't appear to want the other protagonists but was keen to get Kenny on board.

Doesn't sound like Mr Cantwell is exactly presenting a good case for a new contract...
It all sounds a bit bizarre doesn't it.

There's stories about the training regime under Smith not being very taxing for the players, might explain why they look knackered during the games?
Not sure how Todd didn't manage to be fit after a warm weather training camp and a few weeks to go at it.

Suspect full story will out sooner or later.

From a financial point of view, Rangers ain't going to be splashing much cash, is it for a loan?

Rumours of Cantwell to Rangers.

Bloody hell, if he thinks he gets a hard time here...
Just read the reports, obviously with Todd being out of contract in the summer we're not likely to get anything worthwhile back from a transfer fee this window.
Don't know what to make of it really.

I couldn't really care less frankly. He has had enough chances. Unless he can magically re-invent himself under Wagner, he should just go.
