Unfortunately will be missing this as in not very sunny Norway! I have managed to navigate electronically transferring my season ticket to a mate, so quite pleased with that, absolute faff, there is going to be chaos at the turnstiles!!

Am massively confident about this season, it feels like we have bought well, and no more fannying around with " long term project" nonsense, we have a manager that knows the league. I have had my usual bet on us to get promoted and I actually feel confident about it.

In other news, Ipswich have given Ed Sheeran a shirt number #tinpot.

Really looking forward to the season, and £2 a pint if you get there early on Saturday.

That's probably a fifth of what they charge in Norway, is it still crazy expensive?

Beer was £2 a pint in Bergen in 1977 so can only fringe at what it is now.

Hope that's prescient and where they end up in the league.

Roll on Saturday. Listening to a few new players it definitely isn't a long term project anymore, it's a season requirement to get promoted.

It averages about a tenner now.
My first car (Skoda!) cost me £30 in '93.
Although, had to get an exhaust for it which was about £50. Guy at the garage laughed about me doubling it's value! haha.

Is the Sheeran thing real or have they a player called Sheeran? Cause that's ridiculous if true..... Although the more I think about it, it'd probably bring in a load of money as (Sheeran) fans will want them printed. Perhaps it's actually quite clever, financially. They're still all a bunch of wankers though.

Ipswich lucky to snatch a point against birmingham with a late penalty. But a draw is a great result for us.

Neither side looked particularly scary did they ? If they're the favourites then we can have a good season

All that optimism soon shattered. No Jurasek(??) or Diallo so nothing on flanks to feed Sargent. Played like strangers but hopefully Manning can sort them into a team.

Yeah. Expectations tempered in 90+ minutes. I thought Millwall were decent and progressive, especially on the left wing. This exposed the tactical set up a few times. But Manning persisted and didn't change with wingers, expecting Stacey to be everything (rather than a younger and faster Fisher). Medic looked rusty at this level and had an average debut at best. Topic asked to come off but before looked promising. Why we had 3 centre backs too? Too light in midfield as a result and we never really supplied Josh or Crnac.
Kvistgaarden looked very promising but even he was subject to the physical Millwall defenders. A few decent periods of play but the game stats told the story. Seems it's going to take some time for everyone to find out how their team mates play, find patterns. Millwall looked like they were just carrying on from their end to last season. But...we can't take too long...5 games maybe to settle? Reading Bristol City fans comments and they just seem to know what to expect from a Manning team...even what his post match comments would be. So, that leaves me concerned. And he got the shape wrong.

For a few new players..."Welcome to the Championship"!

I was fairly cautious given the number of new signings. But we should not be losing that.

Sargent a cut above. We just couldn't find him.

Appeared that we hoped Stacey and Schlupp would supplement the attack and mask the lack of link between midfield and frontline.

Forson anonymous. Crnac ineffective.

More to come.

But they need Sargent to stay.

I was speaking to a plumber at work who is a Bristol fan, and while he was sad to see Manning leave after having a good season he described him as a being a bit too ideological. Said he rarely changes his formation or tactics or responds to what is actually playing out on the pitch. The subs will often be like for like rather than attempting to mix it up.
There’s an argument obviously that it was working at Bristol so why change it but he said it could be frustrating watching them losing and persisting with 5 at the back.
Will be interesting to see how it plays out going forward but from what I heard on radio snorefolk it sounded a pretty fair assessment

I was a little bit surprised about Diallo. We supposedly beat other clubs to signing him and then when we need a goal to avoid defeat on match day 1 we don't turn to him.

But we were happy to chuck Topic and Makama in.

Makama caused them some problems tbf. Probably should have been on a bit sooner.

Who knows what is going on with Jurasek but it's hard to believe he would have offered less than Forson...

For a first match at home I was surprised we didn't use Diallo earlier too. It was increasingly clear we were not creating much for Josh early in the second half. - nor changing the formation earlier. Having more control in midfield wouldn't have gone amiss. Hope Manning learns.

How much did we pay up front for jurasec? Don't think Manning has any faith in him whatsoever. Cut our losses? People complaining about Medic, but at least he was there, learning . Forson and Cranac. last seasons failures, history repeating
