Two Tier Cricket

No this isn’t a dig at the Prime Minister, but the latest money grab from a sporting body.
The ICC (no doubt being led by the Indian Cricket Board) are looking at dividing the Test sides into two divisions, so the top sides play each other more frequently. So you’ll end up with multiple Test series between India, England and Australia and almost nothing against the rest, simply making the financial gulf between those countries and the rest even wider.
Why does every sport seemingly have to end up going this way, where the top sides always try to take an ever increasing slice of the pie? They’ll simply end up killing Test cricket

I think an ashes series every two years is about right. Anymore, and it would become dull

What would've happened in the 90's? England in the 2nd tier?

Test cricket needs better marketing and promotion, rather than division, if it is to prosper

Agreed. Let’s not forget that we were so poor (and the Aussies were unfortunately one of the best sides to have played the game) that there was talk of playing it even less frequently, due to the one sided nature of the series.
The whole cricket calendar needs fixing, as it’s currently a mess. Have set windows for domestic T20 comps and Test series to stop the two colliding. There also needs to be more money for the poorer Test sides, rather than it simply being hoarded by the big nations (sound familiar?).
They also need to rein in the Indian Cricket Board. If they didn’t want to play in Pakistan then they should have either forfeited those matches or been replaced by another side, rather than moving the games to a neutral venue.

The women’s team are losing a lot of goodwill. They want to be paid as professionals but throw a hissy fit whenever their fitness or fielding is criticised
One issue seemed to be that there was harsh criticism from Alex Hartley, who was a team mate not long ago. I don't know how valid her opinion is, but the team need to learn to take the criticism and try to detach it from who is dishing it out

This sounds it will be like the football superleague for me. A way of a few sides collected more money.

When the top sides play each other it's exciting because they don't that often. The more often they play each other the less interested I am.
Liverpool V Bayern Munich in a knockout tie every few years. Great.
Liverpool V Bayern twice every year? Zzzzz. It soon turns into Stoke V QPR. Mid table mediocrity
