According to teamtalk got on for the last 10 minutes. Anyone cast any light on his contribution or is 10 mins just too little to comment on?

I'm sure when we signed this player there was talk of us spending £4.2m.

I find it really odd that almost two months later he has had just 10 minutes of football, against Shrewsbury in the league cup. He's a Belgian international and almost signed for Everton a couple of years ago, with that sort of pedigree and if the price is correct then you'd have expected him to walk straight into our team?

I think we must have signed some sort of paper pre season that says to even the league up we have to carry Bradley Johnson for 46 games instead.

I don't share your dislike of Johnson Splutcho, I just don't like seeing Tettey and Johnson on the pitch at the same time. Both of them are best as deep lying midfielders, neither are great going forward. Whether it is Johnson giving the ball away or Tettey constantly trying 35 yard pot shots.

Either one of those next to a playmaker is what I'd like to see, Howson the obvious choice.

I'm a big fan of Johnson, but he's been poor in the last few of games, in particular today, and it's hard to see why Adams seems to have Johnson down as our first choice centre midfielder, even dropping Tettey before him.

I'm sure Odjidja-Ofoe will get his chance, but at this moment in time it's hard to see why we spent £4m on him. He's also probably one of the highest earners as well.

According to the Pink'un, Vadis could play in the Development squad game next week:

"Belgian international Vadis Ofoe may also figure after getting the all-clear from a specialist following a setback in his recovery from a knee injury."

I see he's been ruled out for the 'festive period'. Seems a troublesome injury.

Knees can be tricky, but Adams seemed to think it was mainly 'precautionary'. With Wes back, there is no need to rush Vadis back.

Well this will be interesting. On paper he should be our best midfielder but we know next to nothing about him. he could transform our season.. Or not... Or get injured again.

Yay like Becchio and Fox before him he will probably become our great white hope (not sure if calling him the great black hope would be racist or not    )

Looks like he played the full 90 in the under 21s yesterday.

Soon.

In that case we could see him make an appearance on Saturday perhaps.

I have high hopes for Vadis this season. Could be like a new signing. I've liked what little I've seen of him. Has obvious quality.

I think he'll be fighting with Howson, Dorrans and Mulumbu for the other central midfield position alongside Tettey (who'll have his own competition from Mulumbu to begin with).

There's clearly quality there, but he needs a run of games and to stay fit to actually show us what he's really capable of.

“You have to remember this is a boy who has been out for the best part of a year and we have managed to get him in good shape at the moment and we want to keep him at that level,” said Neil. “Time will tell how we use him. I certainly hope he can make his mark in the Premier League. He certainly has that quality and you could see the vision he possesses in terms of his range of passing (against West Ham). He did well in the game. In possession of the ball and attacking-wise he was a threat. Out of possession we still probably have a little bit of work to do.

“I think we can improve on that. I just need to try and make sure we get that work ethic to marry up with what he has on the ball and if we can get that and combine the two there is no reason why he can’t be an important player for us.”

Recent comments from Alex Neil.

Does anyone feel able to comment on this yet? Does anyone feel they've seen enough of him? He struck me as somewhat of a power player, but this suggests he has good technical/passing abilities as well.

How does he compare to the man he was supposed to replace for instance, Fer?

Fer was technically very good. Vadis is clearly a powerful player, but I just havent seen enough of him to know about the rest of his game

There's only really been 2 games where he's really left an impression on me. One was against Sheffield Wednesday away, where he actually started but then got injured and came off at half-time. He looked very good on the ball but just slightly out of shape. The other was Fulham at home on the final day of the season, where he came on and looked very classy. Some lovely touches and clearly great vision. I think it was his through-ball that put Redmond in to set up Dorrans for our 3rd goal. From what I've seen of him in pre-season I agree with AN, I see no reason why he can't be an important player for us. The problem seems to be getting him fit.

He seems to be in a different sort of mould to Fer. More powerful and direct, and more capable of travelling with the ball, as well as having an eye for a pass. But I would also say he's not particularly good defensively. I think he'd be better suited to playing the Wes position rather than as a central midfielder like Fer. That said if we were to play him centre midfield alongside Tettey/Mulumbu then I could see it possibly working.

That's all based on the little I've seen of him though.

Seems to have good footwork for a big unit and in that division at least he's not afraid to shoot - bit like the compilation videos of Andreu. Makes u wonder what kind of season he could have had in the championship had he been fit. Seems to have good awareness and knows when to make runs.

I think a big factor may be how intimidated he is by the Premiership. I remember when Liverpool signed Heskey. When Heskey was at Leicester he was never shy to shoot and this was why Liverpool bought him. Then at Liverpool he seemed intimidated by being surrounded by a higher calibre of team-mate. Perhaps it was coached out of him, but it looked like when he received the ball he had lost the confidence to shoot and felt he should look to pass it to one of his team-mates (inferiority complex?) which meant he stopped doing what Liverpool had bought him to do.

Not quite the same scenario. but the likes of VOO and Andreu (and to some extent RvW, even Hooper perhaps - though he usually looks ready to pull the trigger) might suddenly feel that they shouldnt do what they used to do in a better league - that they should play safe and pass (conidence? better keepers? better team-mates? More pressure and not wanting to make a 'mistake'?)

Its frustrating, but you see the opposite from the Murphy boys, and to some extent Redmond, who despite regularly choosing the wrong option, at least have the confidence to do more than play it safe
