Post Loss Blues

Does anyone else get this for days on end after a loss? I know it sounds sad, but I feel like this week is going to be a real slog until we get a chance to put it right on Saturday. I don't envy my other half or my colleagues. I'm going to be such a pain in the arse. God forbid we lose next weekend too.

An opening day loss I could easily handle, we hardly ever win on the first weekend so that's normal and I wouldn't be too worried. However the headlines about racist behaviour and the whole Pilkington has left a very sour taste. I wish we had a Tuesday game so we could have a quick turnaround.

I am usually best kept away from for at least 6 hours post loss.

But a first game of the season loss is different somehow, I was pretty positive before yesterdays game. I feel we could do with a wee bit of good news just to perk people up.

As BB88 said, the racism and Pilkington things haven't helped.

Still, it can't be worse that the opening day against Colchester!

Maybe it is the Pilkington thing that's added to it. The racism, not so much for me. I'm pleased so many people spoke up about it, and it's one more moron that won't be coming to games anymore.

Last season, I sipped whisky, which was enjoyable, while I was watching the Canary performances. I decided a change for this season, and had a really nice bottle of wine, which was also enjoyable. Now my problem is, do I remain with wine,go back to whisky or enjoy both? Too hot to go out kicking cats, so will have to stay in and ponder

I haven't really got over relegation and yesterday just adds to this. The players possibly are still feeling the same.

For all the fighting talk the same dross was served up.

It is only the first game and I suppose perspective is needed but we haven't won for ages and need to turn things round ASAP.

Not convinced with Adams at all and if things go badly in the first 5 games or so the atmosphere will get toxic. He has no option but to win both upcoming home games for me.That my placate things ( for a while). God forbid we lose/ draw the next two and get soundly beat by the Binners who will be up for it big time. If it does go pear shaped by then, Adams may well be struggling to keep his job.

Yes, can't wait until Saturday. I have faith in Adams, it was more the players not performing at Wolves for me.

In my younger years i would feel gutted about a bad result for a day or 2, but now i normally find that my wife giving me hell if i sulk around the house, normally does the trick. :>)

I always try and approach the game with an open mind, however an hour or so before k/o rational thinking flies out of the window! Suddenly I'm always fully convinced 'its our day'.

It never is - and after a defeat I usually break down the game move by move, minute by minute. Trying to figure out exactly what went wrong, this normally starts with a simple conversation with my dad on the way home. But much to the horror of my girlfriend it seems to carry on long in to the night!

I know it is traditional for us to lose (or sometimes draw) the first game, but it was the manner in which we lost that has really done it for me. I expected a draw, as I thought Wolves would be up for it. They weren't technically brilliant but worked hard, and we just didn't seem to turn up. I am pretty down and can't see where the next goal, let alone next win will come from.

Only beam of light was Lafferty. We looked much better when he was on the pitch.

Usually I will be really down for the next day or so, then start to look at things objectively. However it's been a few days since Wolves and I still feel pretty downbeat about it all, am finding it harder to bounce back from defeats after all that we have endured during the last 18 months. We need a signing to give us a lift!

I think it's easy to be down when looking at the first half performance. That was really poor and we looked slow out of the gates. However I really did think we were on the acendancy before Olsson got himself sent off. We were keeping the ball better, we were finding Wes in better areas and had we had a little composure in the final third, I really thought a goal was coming. However as we all know, as soon as you go down to 10 men, it completely changes the dynamic of the game. It's disappointing to lose on the opening day, but we did so with a man down against a team full of momentum, away from home at a ground we never do well at.

I think we really need to wait until after the Watford and Blackburn games before we decide how we are playing, how we are set-up and if we are going to cause problems this year. I felt down after the loss, any fan would. However looking at it logically and as an isolated game, I got over it pretty quickly. Now I can't wait until Saturday, and I'm confident the mood will dramatically increasearound 5:45 on Saturday afternoon.

Yup, the red card was goodnight Vienna. We did show signs of coming back up until that time. As you say, looking at it objectively it is probably a little too early to judge.
