Adblock and avast

What are people's thoughts on ad block ( which gets rid of adverts) and avast as a free security programme. I have a iPad and getting ad block seems problematic but my PC has been fine.

What anti virus programmes are people using?

Surgeryman, I hope you'll appreciate that I really don't want to give people a step by step guide to installing adblock. The bigger this forum grows the more reliant it will be on ads.

I know that many people use it, but a question best asked elsewhere on the internet

Don't actually know the answer to the question, I've been a webmaster for 5 or 6 years so don't ever use it.
