£16m+ in, but what's the point?

I don't buy the whole puppet manager thing certain morons on ~the other site~ are coming out with, but I am finding the level of support that Adams is getting from the board to be somewhat strange.

You would think that the fact they really stuck their neck out by appointing him in the first place, when there were many more experienced options available, would mean that they would be giving him the utmost financial backing to make the most of the best chance we have to get promoted at the first time of asking.

Yet here we are, making a huge transfer profit, then signing O'Neil, Cuellar, and Jerome, players who might well turn out to be decent, but I would find extremely hard to believe were our first choice targets.

Don't understand why people would complain we might be in profit or have money in the bank.  Better to be £5m in profit and have that money available should a player we really want become available, than be £5m in debt and not be able to buy that player.   The players we have bought this summer look decent enough too.

I'd rather not p*ss money away for the sake of it. Surely last night, though just one result, should show that keeping what we have is just as if not more important than signings? On that front, we are doing well.

As well as that, we got in early and signed Grabban and Lafferty (who people moaned about til the cows came home) and they look the business.

I wouldn't worry too much about signings, I think he's got his starting 11 more or less.

Agree with that. Adams promised that new players would come in for any leaving and he's kept that. Cuellar and Jerome were coming in regardless of what happened with Fer, but the new money can now either be used for further strengthening or kept in reserve for loan signings (like Nathan Ake) or strengthening in January. We have one of the strongest squads in this league and we've just strengthened it further.

I would imagine that there is a good chance that there will be an additional midfielder going but I see no point in spending for the sake of it.  It would be good to know that we have leeway in the transfer market in January if we need to strengthen particular areas or cover long-term injuries.

Not sure what people want. 9 points and 7 goals from three games and a lot of quality back up in the squad. What's not to like?

I do think we need one or two in, another defender to start. Games come thick and fast in this league.

With Bennett going off injured and Garrido playing injured, Cuellar not deemed fit enough to come off the bench despite Garrido not being 100% - showed that we could do with another face in there.

Is pretty much Yobo + Bassong out, Cuellar in, so one more defender.

If we can't keep hold of Hooper then I think we need a poacher. Love the fact that Grabban can create his own chances and go for the spectacular, but have already seen this season that we could do with a player who just makes it his mission to get in the box to try and get on the end of things..... hopefully that player can be Hooper, but if he does leave then I think we'd need to replace him with a similar 'fox in the box' type.

And if there is any truth at all in the Kris Common rumours, then there is always room to be made in a Championship squad for player of that quality!
